Behind the Scenes

Dr. Karen Christelle,
Family Medicine Specialist
Dr. Karen is the driving force behind the S.I.N.A.R. Initiative. As the head of this initiative, she has led the development and implementation of innovative approaches to enhance mental health support at KKFB. Dr. Karen recognizes that communities in rural areas are often marginalized and lack awareness of mental health issues. She has made the S.I.N.A.R. Initiative a key effort to address this gap. With her background and experience working in remote areas, Dr. Karen understands the challenges patients face in accessing adequate mental health services.

Dr. Tong Yung Hung, Medical Officer
As the Coordinator of the S.I.N.A.R. Initiative, Dr. Tong Yung Hung brings extensive experience and a deep understanding of patient management. With a strong interest in artificial intelligence, he successfully introduced an AI Chatbot to provide psychological support to those in need. With this AI Chatbot technology, clients can access early mental health support by interacting through their smartphones anytime, anywhere. The integration of the AI Chatbot is part of Dr. Tong's vision to make mental health services at KKFB more accessible and responsive to patients' needs.

En. Syahruzzaman B. Hassin, Asst. Medical Officer
En Syahruzzaman plays a crucial role in the S.I.N.A.R. Initiative. His deep understanding of the local community and his commitment to providing empathetic care have been invaluable in shaping this initiative. His idea to maintain a written form, namely the Kotak SINAR, as an alternative to digital platforms ensures that feedback from patients who are less tech-savvy can also be collected. This initiative demonstrates sensitivity to the needs of diverse patient groups, without neglecting those who may have lower IT literacy. This holistic approach reflects Syahruzzaman's efforts to ensure that the S.I.N.A.R. Initiative can be utilized by all patients, regardless of their background or level of technological proficiency.

En. Saufi is a vital part of the S.I.N.A.R. Initiative team. He understands that for the S.I.N.A.R. Initiative to succeed, the components introduced must be carefully designed and tailored to the actual needs of patients. He ensures that patients can interact with this system in a safe and confident manner, without the risk of exposing their identities or personal information. Additionally, En. Saufi has played a crucial role in training and ensuring that clinic staff can efficiently manage the components of the S.I.N.A.R. Initiative.
